Smartphone manufacturers are constantly working to introduce new models to raise the bar in the GSM market. Innovations in design, performance or cameras are becoming part of the competition between brands. Consumers can expect increasingly slimmer and more powerful devices that not only enable them to communicate, but also provide new experiences in the areas of entertainment, work and mobile photography.

Increasingly intense competition among manufacturers means that the smartphone market is growing rapidly, and users can enjoy ever more advanced and technologically attractive solutions. In the first half of 2023, the following saw the light of day:

iPhone 15 - 12th September

Many believe that the evolution of the mobile industry begins with Apple. Is it so? The best reviewers are the users themselves - and the Apple iPhone 15 series is by far the most anticipated launch of 2023. Expected models include iPhone 15, iPhone 15 Plus, iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max (possibly with a new name - Ultra). As with previous series, the expected Pro Max version smartphones expect the best features and innovations.

Leaks indicate big changes in the new iPhone 15: a built-in USB C port that will replace the traditional Lightning port and the addition of a Dynamic Island on all models of the series. It is expected that Apple will opt for a slimmer design, eliminating the characteristic indentations. The Plus model will probably be the only one in the new line that will keep the shape of the previous year. OLED screens, aluminum frames and a size of 6.7 inches make it an interesting option for those looking for a larger display.

More advanced capabilities will be provided by the Pro models - this is definitely a premium segment. iPhone 15 Pro will have a 6.1-inch screen, a new A17 processor, an exclusive glass panel, an advanced camera and an OLED screen. As for the most advanced version, i.e. Pro Max (or potentially Ultra), we are undoubtedly waiting for emotions. A novelty will be a periscope lens, providing much better photographic opportunities. Titanium on the frames and rounded edges will enhance its aesthetics.

There are many indications that the upcoming iPhone 15 series will bring significant innovations and improvements. However, we will receive full confirmation of this information only during the official launch - 12th September 2023.

Samsung Galaxy S23 FE - last quarter of 2023

In 2023 - as announced - Samsung presented many new smartphones and tablets: Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 5 and Z Fold 5, Galaxy Tab S9, as well as the Galaxy Watch 6 smartwatch. Another smartphone that this manufacturer is preparing for the premiere is the Samsung Galaxy S23 FE. According to the announcement, the new Samsung smartphone is expected to bring even more improvements and new features to become an attractive option in the mid-range market.

The upcoming Galaxy S23 FE model promises to be really good. Potentially, it will be powered by the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 processor, supported by 8 GB of RAM and 256 GB of memory for user data. The photographic capabilities are also to be impeccable: a front camera, three lenses at the back, optical image stabilization, and an AMOLED screen with a refresh rate of 120 Hz. Samsung also managed to keep the dimensions compact - 158 x 76.3 x 8.2 mm.

When will the premiere of Galaxy S23 FE smartphones? Unfortunately, we do not yet know the exact release date of smartphones in this series. It is possible that the phone will not appear until the end of 2023, and it will be more widely available in early 2024.

Google Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro - October 2023

It is said that the Google Pixel 8 series smartphone is to be a unique model in terms of performance and speed. This flagship smartphone of the brand in the basic and Pro version will be equipped with Google Tensor G3, OLED screen with 120 Hz refresh rate, Android 14 system and ultrasonic fingerprint readers.

As announced, Google Pixel 8 will be supported by 8 GB of RAM and will offer options of 128 GB or 256 GB of internal memory. The optics will focus on a 50 MP Samsung ISOCELL GN2 matrix with 1/1.12 ", as well as a 12 MP ultra-wide-angle lens and a 11 MP selfie camera. The screen will be 6.17 inches.

The Google Pixel 8 Pro variant is expected to be even more powerful with 12GB of RAM. The Pro version will offer a 6.7-inch OLED screen with QHD+ resolution, enriched with Gorilla Glass Victus. There will also be improved sensors in the lenses, which will significantly improve the quality of photos in low light. Both the main and ultra-wide-angle cameras will receive improvements.

Both the Google Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro smartphones are to be launched in October 2023, although unfortunately not in Poland. Officially, they will not be available for sale in our country.

Interestingly, the Google Pixel development plans for 2024 have also been leaked recently. According to unofficial sources, for the first time this series will consist of three devices: one standard and two pro.

OnePlus Fold - September 2023

The upcoming foldable smartphone from OnePlus is likely to be modeled after the Oppo Find N2 Flip, offering an 8-inch internal display with QHD+ resolution and 120Hz refresh rate, as well as a 6.5-inch external screen with 120Hz refresh rate and FullHD+ resolution. OnePlus Fold (also known as OnePlus Open) will probably be equipped with a Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 processor and three cameras, including a telephoto lens with a 3x optical zoom.

The design will also change. OnePlus Fold smartphones will gain more rounded corners, a change in the location of the selfie camera and stereo speakers.

The final launch, initially scheduled for August 29, may be delayed due to the shipment of displays. We have to wait for the release date of smartphones and information on how OnePlus smartphones will ultimately look like.

Xiaomi Mix Fold 3 - third quarter of 2023

Apparently, the fashion for compact phones is back, since the list of "upcoming smartphones 2023" is closed by another fold - this time from Xiaomi. Although the official confirmation of the release of Xiaomi Mix Fold 3 is missing, the rumors are getting louder.

The new Xiaomi Mix Fold 3 smartphone is to be thinner and have a more durable structure. Inside, the manufacturer has placed the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 processor, and thanks to cooperation with Leica, it also promises beautiful photos. What else will be in the phone? Under-display selfie camera, 5x periscope zoom, optical image stabilization and up to 50W wireless charging.

The premiere of Xiaomi Mix Fold 3 will take place in the third quarter of 2023, but the availability of the phone may be limited to the Chinese market only.
